Dr. Ashraf Badawi received a PhD degree in Laser Applications in Dermatology from the National Institute of Laser Enhanced Sciences, Cairo University, Egypt in 2007. In 2011, Dr. Badawi obtained a second PhD in Clinical Medical Sciences from Szeged University, Hungary. During his career path, Dr. Badawi has actively participated in more than 350 International Dermatology conferences with lectures and workshops.
Within the past 25 years, he was directly involved in training of more than 3500 Dermatologists all over the world for Laser Applications in Dermatology. Dr. Badawi has several international publications in the field of Cosmetic Dermatology and laser applications in Dermatology and is:

• The President of the European Society of Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology (ESCAD).
• President of the European Society of Laser Dermatology (ESLD)
• Co-Chair of the laser task force of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venerology (EADV)
• International Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)
• Scientific board member of the International Master Class of Aging Science (IMCAS) & IMCAS ACADEMY.
• Member of the American Society for Laser in Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS)

Diploma Program in Aesthetic Medicine

Step 1 and 2
(Cairo, Egypt Centre)

Part 1: Online and Virtual sections

There are 8 courses which are delivered in this section. As soon as you register for the package and pay the deposit, you will get access to the materials.

Note: Your access to the online materials will remain until 6 months after the completion of Step 1 or 3 months after the completion of Step 3 exams (if you have registered for all 3 steps)

In addition, you will get access to all ongoing Virtual aesthetic discussion panels. (see the page here)

Among the courses mentioned above, the following courses are considered mandatory lessons for the Diploma Program. Students must complete all the mandatory lessons to be eligible to attend the Step 1 classes:

Part 2: Local In-class Practical Courses

This includes the in-class hands-on section of our courses which lasts for 4 days and is held at the CBAM Egypt Centre. During these day practical courses, the following topics will be reviewed:

  • Basic Aesthetic Injectables
  • Advanced Aesthetic Injectables
  • Laser Treatments

Part 3: Complete the online MCQ comprehensive exam

As soon as you complete Step 1, you will be provided with access to the online MCQ exams.  The questions in this exam include all the materials which are taught online and also during in-class programs plus some questions from the CBAM virtual aesthetic discussion panels (see the courses here)

After the successful completion of this exam, the applicants will be eligible to start Step 2 (Advanced Fellowship) at CBAM Cairo Centre.

Advanced Aesthetic Fellowship Program

As soon as you complete step 1 and perform the Comprehensive MCQ exam, you are qualified to apply for the Advanced Fellowship program at CBAM Cairo. As soon as you arrange with the faculty, you can start your fellowship.

There is 1 activity in this step:

Supervised Advanced Fellowship
Length: 30 hours

During these 30 hours of small group fellowship, the practitioners will gain more experience in the field by visiting more patients. This 30-hour fellowship program is a necessary step in the process of Board Certification in order to prove the graduates have adequate hands-on experience and skills in the aesthetic field.

Your fellowship hours of Step 2 are to be arranged with the local CBAM Centre in Egypt. Please confirm the exact dates with the local centre.


After completion of this activity, your faculty(ies) will sign your evaluation sheet and submit it to the CBAM head office.

At this point, the graduates will receive a certificate as Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine (This is an online certificate and students who would like to receive the hard copy of the Diploma certificate will have to pay an extra amount of $120 USD). At this stage, the name of the applicant will not appear on the CBAM website, unless completing Step 3 as well.

    (Final step of Board Certification Program)
    A Road to Aesthetic Designations

    Step 3, the last stage of the CBAM International Board Certification Program, is designed for the aesthetic physicians and practitioners who have completed the CBAM Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine Program (Step 1 and 2) at one of the CBAM international centres around the world, or for the specialists who would like to apply for the Fast track Board certification process.

    By demanding the applicants to have sufficient exposure to academic sources and multiple sessions of practice on live models, the purpose of Step 3 is to help the CBAM Diploma holders to expand their academic knowledge and hands-on experience in the field even further.

    By completing Step 3 successfully, the applicants become CBAM Board Certified and their names are displayed on the CBAM official website.

    Who is eligible to attend Step 3 Board certification process?

    There are 2 groups of practitioners who are eligible to start this process:

    1. The international medical professionals who have completed Step 1 and Step 2 in one of the affiliated CBAM centres in all over the world. (this is not applicable to the graduates of CBAM programs in Canadian centres)
    2. The dermatologists or plastic surgeons who have not attended Step 1 or Step 2 in CBAM centres; however, they wish to become a Board certified member of the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine. (Fast track Board Certification process*)

    *If you are a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, you may be eligible to enter Step 3 process without completing Step 1 and Step 2. This is referred as “Fast track Board Certification process”. Learn more
